Milestone 7 (Testing the Exclusion Tab)

Image
For this milestone, I can finally get into software testing. Specifically, I am working on the exclusion tab in the BackupChain application. This tab is available in order to exclude any unwanted files from backing up. Once I select a file to back up, I then select a location for that file to be backed up into. The selected file will have multiple contents inside. This means that many different things will be backed up unless I exclude any specific file that I do not want backed up. In a pictures file called "Test," I have two photos. One is a picture of the windows logo, and the other is a picture of the recycling bin icon. I am going to backup the entire "Test" file, but I do not want to back up the recycling bin icon, named "Bin." For this software test, I will be using a file backup. The name of the file that I want to back up is "Test." Name of the back up location will be called "BackupPic2" In the exc...

Milestone 6 (Backup Hyper-V)

Image
For this milestone, I created a Hyper-V backup. The exclusion and inclusion options were given to me towards the end of the backup setup. The Backup Chain application simply allowed me to select one of my virtual machines that I have prepared in my Hyper-V manager. I selected my backup location.  After the backup had finished, I began the restoration process for the virtual machine. I selected a file destination to place the restored virtual machine. This destination had to be created using a new folder since I did not have an empty location. I was given a notification after the restoration process had completed saying that a copy of one of my virtual machines was created. This meant that the process was successful, but I had to see for myself if the virtual machine was really added into the Hyper-V manager. After opening up the Hyper-V manager, I was able to see that a copy of one of my virtual machines was created. This confirmed success of the...

Milestone 5 (Calculating Write Speed)

-Average read speed of the first drive is 100mb/sec. -Average write speed of second drive is 80mb/sec. -Copy 1tb to second drive. Only need to worry about write speed of the second drive. (1024x1024x1024)/(80(1024)) =13107.2 seconds

Milestone 4 (Windows Server 2016 to Different Computer)

Image
This milestone was a bit trickier to initiate than the previous milestones. For this one, I utilized two different computers, both with 4gb of RAM. I initially had to install rufus on my laptop in order to transfer the Windows Server 2016 over to my USB flash drive.   This step was required in order to install Windows Server 2016 into a separate computer upon booting up. Once the computer booted up, I pressed F12 to get into the booting setup menu and install the server from my USB drive. Once the server finished installing, I was welcomed with the server manager. I turned on some of the essential features, such as internet access. I also turned on access to Hyper-V. Through the Hyper-V manager, I created my virtual machine. The virtual machine used 512mb of usable memory. This step took the most time to complete for me but after changing settings such as memory usage and iso images, I had finally got the virtual machine to boot. Outside of the virt...

Milestone 3 (Backup Virtual Machine)

Image
Using the Backup Chain application, I was able to navigate and attempt to backup any file or virtual disks that I had on my machine. I did a VMware Backup in the application, and I backed up the folder that stated "Windows Server 2016." This folder contained the VM for VMware. The folder began to backup into an external hard drive: After waiting a little while for the backing up process, I began to prepare the restoration process for the file. I selected my backup folder as my location to be restored and placed the contents in a new folder to be replaced. This folder was named "Restore." I restored the folder in the VMware application. Once I created a new VM in VMware, I removed the hard disk that was automatically created in the setup. I replaced it with the restored hard disk.

Milestone 2 (Setup IIS and FTP Server)

Image
During this IIS setup, I had the most trouble browsing the created website. I would originally browse it using the given url of testingsite.com, but this was not the correct url to use. It did not display the text that I had written. Instead, this url redirected me to a bunch of junk information and text. I had known a little bit afterward that I did something wrong in the setup. It was either that or I did not enter the correct url. Advanced settings of the IIS Site      After changing the url to localhost.testing.html, I was able to get my resulting message. This part of the milestone gave me the most trouble and took up the most of my time. After correcting this error, I proceeded to work on the ftp site. The advanced settings of the ftp site are displayed. After setting rules for the ftp site and changing the port to 21, I am finally going to attempt to wrap up the remaining requirements for this milestone. ...

Factory vs. Freelance

When comparing a factory worker and a freelance worker, there are some differences that may arise. Specifically, there may be differences in the quality of the work performed. This would be evident in the work flexibility and effort that could potentially go into both factory worker and freelance worker.      When regarding a factory worker, one would be more motivated to maintain top quality in a product. This is because that person would have a fixed schedule with time specifically allocated to performing a single task within a job. However, when regarding a freelance worker, their work schedule is a lot more flexible. This person may choose their own time to work and may not put as much effort that would be seen in a factory simply because they do not need to.      The quality of the product would also depend on the personality of the worker too, of course, but the general working period would be more rigorous for a...
