Milestone 7 (Testing the Exclusion Tab)
For this milestone, I can finally get into software testing. Specifically, I am working on the exclusion tab in the BackupChain application. This tab is available in order to exclude any unwanted files from backing up. Once I select a file to back up, I then select a location for that file to be backed up into. The selected file will have multiple contents inside. This means that many different things will be backed up unless I exclude any specific file that I do not want backed up.
In a pictures file called "Test," I have two photos. One is a picture of the windows logo, and the other is a picture of the recycling bin icon. I am going to backup the entire "Test" file, but I do not want to back up the recycling bin icon, named "Bin."
For this software test, I will be using a file backup.
The name of the file that I want to back up is "Test."
Name of the back up location will be called "BackupPic2"
In the exclusion box, I entered "Bin" in order to exclude any files that contain the word "Bin."
Backup was successful! Next up, time to restore it.
I selected where my back up location was at; in "BackupPic2."
The name of my restoration folder is "RestorePic2."
Restoration was completed! Now time to see if the recycling bin icon was excluded from the entire process by checking what was left on my restored file.
The testing of the exclusion tab was a success! "Bin" was not included in my newly restored file.
